FNPS Background

The Family Nursing Practice Scale (FNPS) is a self-report questionnaire designed to measure perceived changes in family nursing practice, including attitudes toward working with families, critical appraisal of their family nursing practice, and reciprocity in the nurse-family relationship. The scale provides quantitative and qualitative evaluation components and has been widely used in nursing studies around the world.

The original scale was developed in English and translated into Cantonese. It was psychometrically tested for content and construct validity, internal consistency, and test-retest reliability. The scale has subsequently been translated into several languages by a number of researchers.

The FNPS was published in The Journal of Family Nursing in 2006 and is protected by copyright. Reproduction and distribution of the article and its contents without written permission is prohibited. © 2006 Sage Publications

If you have used the FNPS in your research or know of other translated versions, please navigate to the contact page and let us know. We want to highlight all studies using the FNPS and all translated versions of the scale. This will also help to reduce duplication of valuable research time and effort.
